My Gaming Journalism Adventure
I have had a passion for gaming and the industry at large ever since I was a kid, but it wasn’t until I got to college and began to explore writing as a serious career when I joined the State Hornet that I began to realize that I could combine my two passions into something I have always wanted: a lifelong career. In my time at the Hornet, I developed a lot of people skills and learned how to break out of my comfort zone, doing reporting for the arts and entertainment section before working my way up to becoming a copy editor prior to my graduation.
Once I had attained my Bachelor’s of Arts in Journalism, I dove headfirst into the field and found a job as a reporter in my local hometown newspaper, but was quickly disillusioned with daily news reporting, finding that I missed the passion I used to have when writing about arts and entertainment in college.
After breaking into the field doing some freelance work for sites like How-To Geek and Game Rant, where I cover editorial topics related to the industry along with daily news beats, I knew right away that I could set my sights higher and work toward a full-time career where I can thrive among like-minded individuals in a shared space. My dream is to work at an office full of gaming enthusiasts who share my passions and desire to create compelling content about one of my oldest and dearest interests.
